Who We Are

Our Mission

Tech Squad brings tech support and internet access directly to older adults and people with disabilities so they can participate in our increasingly digital world.

Staff and volunteers provide culturally appropriate tech curriculum, small group training, and ongoing coaching with the goal of teaching individuals how to access online city, community, health, and commercial services.

Our Program

Felton Institute’s Tech Squad program was launched in January 2021 to bridge the digital divide among older adults who were greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our locations include public libraries, senior housing, and community organizations. Tech Squad is based at 1099 Sunnydale Avenue in Visitacion Valley, a neighborhood in southeast San Francisco where the need for broadband adoption is greatest among low-income residents.

About Felton Institute

We are a program under Felton Institute’s Senior Services Division. Felton Institute responds to the needs of our community by providing innovative, evidence-informed social services to transform lives. You can learn more at felton.org.

Our Services

We offer free tech support pop-ups and workshop trainings. In addition, Tech Squad has expanded to other Felton Institute service areas, including our citywide mental health programs for clients to access Telehealth.

One-on-One Training:

Individualized Tech Support Training

Our trainers can answer basic tech questions on how to use your smart devices, including your phone, tablet or laptop/desktop computer, via ZOOM or phone call. Tech assistance is offered in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Free One-on-One appointments in English or in Chinese can be scheduled through our online booking system.

All of our free public workshops and classes are listed in the Tech Squad calendar.

Tech Support Pop-Ups:

Onsite Pop-ups at Public Libraries and Other Venues

Open to the public, our pop-ups are scheduled at libraries throughout San Francisco. We bring tech assistance closer to neighborhood residents by providing free drop-in sessions on a first-come-first-served basis answering questions regarding smart devices.

Our Tech Support Pop-Up schedule is listed in the Tech Squad calendar.

Onsite Workshop Series:

Onsite Private Workshops at Senior Housing Sites and Community Organizations

We arrive on location and facilitate a series of in-person tech workshops geared toward an older adult audience.
